This refers to the news item titled "Wave of refinery shutdowns may push up fuel imports in 2019" (and similarly titled news reports), released by Reuters, that appeared in a number of newspapers today (November 27, 2018). The story focusses on the scenario of increased fuel imports by state-owned refiners and quotes IndianOil's Director (Refineries) Mr B V Rama Gopal, totally out of context in the story. Our rejoinder to the above is as follows:
It was a general discussion on the oil industry outlook and its preparedness for meeting the BS-VI timelines, and there was absolutely no mention of IndianOil's plans regarding fuel imports, as is being alluded to, in the news item. IndianOil is currently focussed on achieving its targets pertaining to the timely production and supply of BS-VI fuels.
