Occupational Health At IndianOil

At IndianOil, people are central to our existence and we remain committed to their well-being and prosperity. All occupational health programmes are designed with a an eye to ensure to improve the health status, well-being and productivity of employees by creating a workplace environment that actively and consistently reinforces, promotes and supports healthy behaviours.

The main three objectives of occupational health programmes at IndianOil are:

All our refineries and major installations have a fully equipped ‘Occupational Health Centre’ meeting the statutory requirement to take care of employees health and protect them from work related hazards and risks. IndianOil Doctors and paramedics are specially trained to monitor the health of employees working in hazardous areas vis-à-vis with the chemicals being handled. The healthcare personnel regularly interact with shopfloor managers and staff. Various media of communication such as house journals, posters, films, etc. are extensively used for creating awareness regarding occupational hazards and its mitigation measures.

In addition, personnel working in hazardous areas are subjected to pre-placement medical examination and periodic medical examination to study the effect of occupational hazards. In the era of Industry 4.0, embracing the new age of digital technology IndianOil has digitalized occupational health data by developing an in-house OHS (Occupational Health Services) portal. This new portal provides dependable analytics, real-time monitoring, and reliable information for creating effective and efficient processes to heighten overall workforce safety and reduce occupational risks.

To facilitate effective implementation of occupational health policies and practices, IndianOil developed an ‘Occupational Health & Wellness Index’. Periodic evaluation of Occupational Health & Wellness Index has lead to improved delivery and better professional quality of Occupational Health Services.

In-house compilation and publication of six health manuals as an attempt to create awareness about key issues on prevention of work related stress, happiness & well-being, home remedies, physical health and prevention of lifestyle disorders with the help of balance nutrition:-

A Corporate Occupational Health Manual containing policies, procedures and standard formats is also developed and is being periodically reviewed, for strengthening and uniform working of Occupational Health services across the Corporation.

To provide psychosocial support to the employees, IndianOil started an employee assistance program named ‘Paramarsh’. Under this initiative, emotional wellness workshops are periodically conducted by leading psychiatrists & clinical psychologists for the employees and their families. The program aims to help, support, and enhance the mental and psychosocial wellbeing of the employees.

IndianOil also leveraged its digital e-learning platform for creating awareness and providing necessary training to the remotest employees by developing various e-learning modules on occupational health, healthy life-style & nutrition.

All refineries are ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health & Safety Management System) and ISO 14064: 2006 (standards for Sustainable development) certified.
