Chairman inaugurates Gas Conclave 2015

IndianOil held Gas Conclave – 2015 today at New Delhi where luminaries from global and Indian gas Industry participated to deliberate on the theme “Gas - Towards Green Future”. Mr. B. Ashok Chairman, IndianOil, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Mr. Ashok inaugurated the conclave by lighting the traditional lamp. He was accompanied on the dais by Mr. D. Sen Director (P&BD) and Mr. G. K. Satish ED I/C, (Gas).

Delivering the inaugural address, Chairman said that natural gas has become the most favoured fuel in the last three decades. He pointed out various initiatives taken by the government to invigorate the manufacturing, power and fertilizer sectors. He highlighted the fact that Indianoil has a presence in the entire value chain of gas, from gas assets in upstream, gas infrastructure and gas marketing.

Emphasising on the need for having prominent presence in gas infrastructure, Mr. Ashok informed that setting up a regasification terminal at Ennore Port and having a joint authorisation for laying 4000 kms of gas pipelines is a step in that direction. He hoped that the experts after attending the conclave would deliberate and come out with a road map for the growth of Indian gas Industry which would shape the future of the sector.

Mr. Sen accorded warm welcome to the guests and delegates. In his address, he laid emphasis on the importance of making gas energy affordable. He stated that Asia would be the demand driving region for gas in future. He hoped that conclave would pave a way for firming up a progressive action plan in the gas arena.

The inaugural session was followed by a panel discussion on 'Feasibility of Gas Based Economy in India'. The other sessions included in the conclave are ‘Gas outlook – The Economic Imperatives’, ‘Meeting Customer Expectations’, ‘Gas Infrastructure – Challenges and Road map’.

The conclave saw participation of a large number of national and international delegates from industry and consultancy firms.
