‘Automotive R&D Trends’

Dr. S.S.V. Ramakumar, GM, (Automotive Oils & Nano Technology), IndianOil R&D, addressed the delegates in ‘Automotive R&D Trends’ conference held recently by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at Chennai.

 Dr. Ramakumar  presented his  plenary address on the contemporary  theme “Lubricant Enabled Fuel Economy- Imperatives and Facts” wherein he highlighted the technical scope of garnering fuel economy benefits to the tune of 4 to 6% using right kind of lubricants in both power train and driveline systems.

He underlined IndianOil’s efforts in developing customized and fuel efficient engine and driveline lubricants for Indian Automotive Industries.

While inaugurating the conference, Mr. Ambuj Sharma, IAS, Additional Secretary, Department of Heavy Industries, Government of India, informed that Government of India is in the final stage of formulating a new Automotive Mission Policy which will formally be released by next year.

The conference comprised of several technical sessions showcasing key automotive R&D mega trends wherein leading OEM representatives presented several new aspects like onboard diagnostics, vehicle to vehicle communication, 6th level automotive of passenger cars.   The presentation on futuristic, driverless auto pilot car was one of the highlights of the conference. Concurrent to the conference was exposition which was participated by key vendor and service providing organisations related to automotive sector.
