IndianOil’s Panipat Naphtha Cracker bags top world rank
New Delhi   10-Sep-2015

The Polypropylene Unit of Panipat Naphtha Cracker has been ranked number one globally under the categories “Internal Stream Factor” and “Specific Monomer (Ethylene) consumption” for the year 2014-15, as part of the benchmark study conducted by the licensor M/s Lyondell Basell.

Internal Stream Factor (ISF) is an indicator of the plant downtime caused by unscheduled shutdowns or interruptions for internal reasons. Similarly, Specific Monomer (Ethylene) Consumption is an indicator of the raw material consumption to produce one tonne of HDPE product.

Sanjiv Singh, Director (Refineries ), IndianOil has complemented Panipat Refinery employees on this great feat . PP units of PNC made remarkable achievement of having internal stream factor of 100% and 99.78%, respectively against the world average of 97.91% while HDPE unit of Panipat Naptha Cracker has attained Specific monomer (Ethylene) consumption of 1000.55 against the global average of 1006.54 Kg/MT of PE, said Shri Sanjiv Singh. The study also revealed that both the units performed much better than global average in many parameters like Catalyst specific consumption, Electricity specific consumption, Co-monomer specific consumption, Additive specific consumption etc.,

This shows the outstanding capability of the unit in maintaining high standard of quality performance even though the production grades are changed from time to time, further added Shri Singh.

Polypropylene Unit produces high quality and high value niche grades including high speed Bi-axially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) (food packaging and laminations), high clarity random co-polymers (used for food containers and thin walled products) and super impact co-polymer grades (used for batteries, automobile parts, luggage and heavy duty transport containers).

High Density Polyethylene Unit (HDPE) produces high quality and high value niche grades including different Pressure Pipe grades , Film grade and Blow molding grades.
