India's flagship national oil company and downstream petroleum major, IndianOil is celebrating its Golden Jubilee during 30th June - 1st September 2009. Established as an oil marketing entity on 30th June 1959, Indian Oil Company Ltd. was renamed Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. on 1st September 1964 following the merger of Indian Refineries Ltd. (established in August 1958) with it. The integrated refining & marketing entity has since grown into the country's largest commercial enterprise and India's No.1 Company in the’ prestigious Fortune 'Global 500' listing of the world's largest corporates, currently at the 116th position. It is also the 18th largest petroleum company in the world. In Eastern Region the festivities were launched at a glittering function held at IndianOil Bhavan, Kolkata that witnessed some of the biggest names in the energy and downstream sector coming together. Distinguished members from the corporate sector like Mr. Rabin Mukhopadhyay, Senior Vice President, Haldia Petrochemicals, Mr. Yoshihiro Ikegawa, Managing Director, MCC PTA India Corporation Pvt graced the occasion Ltd., Mr. Debasis Sen, Executive Director, IndianOil and Mr. Priobhash Dey General Manager, IndianOil. Speaking on the occasion both Mr. Debasis Sen and Mr. Priobash Dey thanked the people of the country and more specifically the armed forces and the industrial sector for supporting this organization for the last five decades. The Golden Jubilee of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. Was also celebrated at IndianOil's Haldia Refinery. Mr. Suvendu Adhikari, Hon’ble Member of Parliament Tamluk, and Prof. Damodar Acharya, Director, IIT-Kharagpur, flagged off the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of IndianOil at Haldia Refinery on 30th June 2009 in the presence of, and Mr. A K Roy, Executive Director, Haldia Refinery, Mr. M Vijaywargiya, General Manager (Projects), Mr. Hirak Dutta, General Manager Technical), Mr. Narinder Kumar, General Manager (TS), Mr. O P Arora, Principal, IndianOil Management Academy, senior officials and employees of IndianOil Haldia Refinery. Golden Jubilee celebrations clocked a historic moment today at Gujarat Refinery. An unveiling of Mahatma Gandhi Statue at the lawns of Gujarat Refinery Administrative building marked the beginning of IndianOil Golden Jubilee Celebrations at this unit. The inaugural celebrations started with a grand formal function organized in the open foyer of Administrative building. Hon'ble Member of Parliament Mr. Balkrishna Shukla graced the function as Chief Guest and Mr. Vijay Nehra, Collector and District Magistrate, Vadodara was the guest of honour. An apt audience of about 700 people comprising important dignitaries from neighboring industries and associates, former Executive Directors and General Managers of IndianOil and employees, experienced an environment filled with sense of pride and honour of being associated in one way or other with one of the largest Navratna PSU of India.
