Oil and gas conservation fortnight concludes at Guwahati

This year's 'Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight (OGCF)', kick started on January 15. The inaugural function held on January 16 was graced by Mr. Shyam Mewara, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Foqd and Civil Supplies, Government of Assam and Dr. Amarjyoti Choudhury, Professor, Tezpur University in the presence of Mr. G. Bahnumyurthy, Executive Director, Team from NEISO and GSPL, Dealers and Distributors, Media and a large turnout of school children. Guwahati Refinery carried out various activities during the fortnight. Awareness about oil conservation was created for employees, school children and residents or Noonmati area, OGCF banners were displayed and OGCF badges were distributed. Free servicing of LPG burners provided to residents of Refinery Township. Survey of insulation effectiveness and efficiency of refinery heaters and boilers carried out by external CHT team. Around 150 free vehicle emission tests provided for refinery employees. School children of about six schools around die refinery in Noonmati area took part in various competitions held on the theme of oil and gas conservation. The events included quiz competition, slogan competition and drawing competition and the tike. Similar events were organized for employees and employees' spouses. In total about more than 200 participants took part in the various competitions. The school children of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sector-I have added to the special awareness on OGCF to residents of Sector-I township through their rally followed by street play (Puppet show) at Sector-I playground. The eventful fortnight concluded on January 30 with a valedictory function presided by Mr. A. C. Mishra DGM-in-Charge (T), Guwahati Refinery in presence of dignitaries from IndianOil-NEISO and Guwahati Siliguri Pipeline. The song and skit performance on oil conservation added colour to the valedictory function. Prizes were given to the winners of various competitions held during the fortnight.
