IndianOil (IOC) has stepped into gas transportation by commissioning its Dadri-Panipat R-LNG pipeline project. This segment has traditionally been dominated by GAIL India, another public sector company. IOC and GAIL are already competitors in the petrochemical business. Apart from similar businesses, the two have another thing in common: both bear the burden of petroleum subsidy. But that's no guarantee that sibling rivalry will not escalate in the oil and gas sector.
