Indane has proved to be a boon, taking the country from chullahs to LPG stoves, which has resulted in major health benefits from a clean and smoke-free kitchen. Going beyond numbers, Indane can make a difference to the health of the nation,” said Mr. B Ashok, Chairman, IndianOil. He was addressing the Golden Jubilee celebrations of brand Indane held at Kolkata recently. Mr. AN Jha, Executive Director (LPG); Mr. Indrajit Bose, Executive Director (CC & Branding), Mktg. HO; Mr. Gautam Bose, Executive Director (Regional Service), ERO, along with other members of the senior management were also present on the occasion.

IndianOil began the marketing of Indane, the first national Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) brand of the country ,from the by-lanes of Kolkata in October 1965, which in retrospect proved to be a historic event revolutionizing Indian kitchens by ushering in an era of clean cooking fuels in India. Since its launch 50 years ago, Indane today serves 9.2 crore households across the country. It is available in 3300 markets through over 8000 distributorships, carving a niche for itself even in kitchens in the remotest corners of the country. Leveraging technology, Indane has traversed the digital platform to provide numerous initiatives for greater customer convenience viz. mobile apps for refill booking, on-line booking of new connections, etc.

Speaking at the 50th anniversary of brand Indane at its launch city Kolkata, Mr. Ashok reiterated the importance of spreading Indane’s presence to rural markets, positioning it as a fuel of the future, and investing it infrastructure development. “Indane is one product that has truly lived up to our saying – In every heart, in every part. However, there is immense potential for improvement and I am sure that Indane can find its space and contribute in the overall growth of the country, especially the rural areas. We also need to invest heavily in addressing issues such infrastructure development, logistic and delivery issues,” he said. He also highlighted the Indane has navigated to new marketing boundaries including commercial usage and industrial application. He also highlighted the indigenous efforts by IndianOil which has recently launched Indane Nanocut, a high- therm gas for the metal cutting segment.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Mr. Jha emphasised on the glorious journey of 50 years and the challenges that officers and channel partners had to overcome to make Indane a super brand today. The programme started with a film depicting the happiness that Indane has brought to its customers. A special edition of IndianOil News, highlighting the important milestones of the 50-year journey of brand Indane was also launched on the occasion. Representatives from nine oldest distributorships from across the country were also felicitated on the occasion.
