Over 1 crore people give up LPG subsidy, Hon’ble MoS, MoP&NG, thanks India for supporting Give It Up campaign

In a media interaction held at New Delhi today, Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), MoP&NG, informed that 1,13,00,000 Indians have given up the subsidy on LPG cylinders. Expressing his gratitude towards these consumers, Mr. Pradhan said that not just the rich but rural as well as middle class populace participated in the movement wholeheartedly, thus making the campaign a huge success.

Mr. Pradhan also informed that Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu are the top five states, with nearly 50% patrons belonging to these states. “More than economic considerations, it is the credibility of the scheme through a transparent interface and man-to-man mapping that has been crucial to the success of the campaign,” he said.

In his address, Mr. Pradhan also informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would officially launch the ‘Pradhanmantri Ujjwala Yojana’, the Give Back Scheme at Ballia, Uttar Pradesh on May 1, 2016. Over 60 lakh BPL families have been provided LPG connection through this scheme.
