Petroleum Minister kicks off PETROTECH-2009 preparations

With less than 365 days left for the curtains to go up on PETROTECH-2009, India’s flagship oil & gas industry event, Mr. Murli Deora, Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, today kicked off the preparations to make it truly world-class. In a meeting that was attended by Mr. Dinsha Patel, Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Mr. M S Srinivasan, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, CEOs of oil & gas companies in India, and senior officials of the Ministry as well as Oil companies, Mr. Deora also unveiled the first Announcement Brochure and website <a href=http://www.petrotech2009.org class=normallink>www.petrotech2009.org</a> of PETROTECH-2009. PETROTECH-2009 is being organised under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. and PETROTECH Society. It will be held at New Delhi during January 11th-15th, 2009. The PETROTECH series of International Oil & Gas Conferences and Exhibitions is a prestigious biennial event that showcases the Indian hydrocarbon industry to the world. The theme of PETROTECH-2009 is “Energy Independence with Global Cooperation: Opportunities & Solutions”. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Deora said, “In the wake of the high-octane growth in the economy, energy independence has to be a nation’s first and highest priority since growth is linked with high consumption of energy. For all those engaged in the oil & gas business, India presents a tremendous opportunity to create value and wealth. PETROTECH-2009 will provide a platform to the participants to explore new dimensions, forge partnerships, network and collaborate for an energy-secure tomorrow.” “Several fruitful partnerships have been forged during the PETROTECH series of events in the past. Similarly, policies of far-reaching importance impacting the oil & gas industry were announced from this platform. During the meeting, the details of actions taken so far were apprised by Mr. V C Agrawal, Director (HR), IndianOil & Chairman of the Organising Committee of PETROTECH-2009. The PETROTECH series of International Oil & Gas Conferences and Exhibitions started in 1995 as a platform for the global hydrocarbon industry to deliberate and exchange ideas on petroleum economics, security, sustainability and environmental concerns, emerging technologies, processes, etc., and chart new directions for the industry. As the prime showcase of India's hydrocarbon sector, this coveted international event attracts delegates from across the world, including scientists, engineers, technocrats, Government officials, environmentalists and entrepreneurs.
