Fuel consumption jumps 11 %

The fuel consumption in the country jumped 10.9 per cent to 9.63 million tonnes in June. Petrol sales during the month rose 20.4 per cent to 8,54,100 tonnes while diesel consumption was up 19.9 per cent to 3.92 million tonnes, official sources said. Petroleum products consumption was at 9.63 million tonnes, 10.9 per cent higher than 8.68 million tonnes in the same month a year ago. During the first quarter of 2007-08, fuel demand rose 6.4 per cent to 29.688 million tonnes.
