Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to inaugurate Urja Sangam 2015

Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will  inaugurate Urja Sangam 2015, Energy Conclaveat Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on 27th March, 2015 where  Ministers, CEOs, joint venture partners, industry leaders, academia, technology innovators, policy makers and thought leaders will converge on a single platform to deliberate the contemporary challenges and opportunities of shaping the energy security of India in a rapidly changing energy landscape and intensely integrated world.



Under the vibrant leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi , India  is at the threshold of the next great phase of socio-economic transition with all round optimism in its citizens. As the gears of progress are turning fast , country will be hungry for more energy resources to match the needs for development and therefore it is time to evaluate the past, consider the present and chart a future of Hydrocarbon Industry in India to nourish all round development. Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas ( I/C)  considers Energy security as the backbone of the key government initiatives and this event will focus on showcasing India’s promising potential in the Hydrocarbon sector to the world and creating an investor-friendly atmosphere. Urja Sangam will create long-term business opportunities by drawing a road map to firm-up the country’s energy security, integration of downstream, midstream and up-stream segments besides firming up cooperation agreements with key global players.



Hon’ble Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley , Hon’ble Minister for Communication & IT , Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad , Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas ( I/C)  and renowned author and speaker Dr Daniel Yergin will also address the summit.



The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas has taken a number of measures for the benefit of common citizens, including direct transfer of subsidy on LPG cylinders to the consumers. Initiatives to provide affordable and reliable energy even to the poorest of the poor, Power for All by 2019 and Make in India will further need energy and all these issues will be discussed in the summit.



All the state-owned companies in the petroleum sector have joined hands with  India’s foremost international petroleum company ONGC Videsh, engineering giant Engineers India Limited and refining major Indian Oil Corporation’s Barauni Refinery who are celebrating their glorious journey of 50 years, this year. And to mark this historic milestone  , under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas the first  international summit “Urja Sangam 2015: Shaping India's Energy Security”.
