News Release Details
New Delhi 15-Jul-2015
Consequent to reduction by Indian Oil Corporation in basic price of Petrol and Diesel of Rs. 2/litre each (excluding State levies), the change in retail selling prices in the four metros is given below:
| Rs./Litre | ||||
|
| Mumbai | Kolkata | Chennai | Delhi |
| Petrol | (-) 2.55 | (-) 2.52 | (-) 2.55 | (+) 0.28 |
| Diesel | (-) 2.49 | (-) 2.00 | (-) 2.44 | (-) 0.50 |
As can be seen from above table, the change in prices in Delhi is not in line with change in other metros due to increase in VAT rates by State Government on Petrol (from 20% to 25%) and Diesel (from 12.50% to 16.60%) from 16th July, 2015.
Had the VAT rates in Delhi remained unchanged, the reduction in Retail selling price of Petrol and Diesel, would have been (-) Rs. 2.43/litre and (-) Rs. 2.25/litre respectively.
