IndianOil Felicitates Pathfinders Motorbike Expedition in Leh

The motorbike expedition of Pathfinders reached Leh Today and they were felicitated by IndianOil at M/s Laddakh Filling Station, Leh by Mr Hari Anupam, SDRSM, Jammu DO in the presence of MrRigzinSpalbar, Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC(Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council) and MrPrasannaRamaswamy G, IAS, District Magistrate, Leh.

In this expedition, the bikers will approximately cover a distance of 4,200 Kms in a span of 20 days. The aim of this expedition is to spread awareness about environment degradation in the Himayalas among the school children in the remote villages of Ladakh as well as to reach out to the underprivileged in these inaccessible and hilly areas.

Through this year’s expedition, IndianOil is promoting the cause of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. In keeping with Pathfinders moto, ‘Adventure for Social Outreach’, the troupe of bikers shall aim to spread education and consciousness about importance of cleanliness and conservation in the remote parts of Himalayan region. Over the years, the PATHFINDERS Motorbike Expedition has become the flag-bearer of IndianOil's yeoman service to people in remote Himalayan regions and brand ambassador for its products.

Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoP&NG), flagged off the IndianOil sponsored motorbike expedition of Pathfinders to the Himalayas on 9th Sept. 2015 from Delhi. The theme of this 28th motorbike expedition is "Clean Himalayas".While addressing the audience, Shri Pradhan lauded the efforts of the Pathfinders in embarking on an expedition which promises to make a difference to the people living in remote Himalayan region.

Mr RigzinSpalbar, Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC welcomed the move by IndianOil and the Pathfinders in spreading awareness about clean Himalayas and building bridges of friendship amongst the people from the remote areas.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr PrasannaRamaswamy G, IAS, District Magistrate, Leh appreciated the far flung presence of IndianOil in the region. IndianOil is the only national oil company which has two bulk petroleum depots in Leh and Kargil; LPG Bottling plant in Leh and two Aviation Fuelling Stations in Leh and Thoise. The Corporation maintains uninterrupted supply of petroleum products throughout the year.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Hari Anupam, SDRSM, Jammu DO and State Level Coordinator, Oil Industry, Jammu & Kashmir said that Laddakh is a harsh and rough terrain and in winter because of heavy snow fall and adverse weather condition, it is not possible to supply POL products. Hence, in order to maintain an uninterrupted supply petroleum products IndianOil undertakes advance winter stocking (ASW), which starts in the month of June and is completed by October every year. The Corporation stocks 80,000 KL of petroleum products and 82,000 nos of LPG Cylinders, he added.

IndianOil operates eight petrol stations and nine LPG distributorships in Laddakh Region. As a green energy initiative three IndianOil retail outlets have been solarised, which also includes the retail outlet situated at the highest altitude. The solarisation of the remaining petrol stations is likely to be undertaken shortly.
