Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi dedicating IndianOil's 11th Refinery to the Nation. |
Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, dedicated IndianOil’s 11th refinery at Paradip in the service of the Nation today amidst thunderous applause by more than two lakh cheering audience and the musical strains of Bande Utkal Janani, Odisha State anthem.
Honorable Prime Minister, in his address, said, "Paradip Refinery of IndianOil marks the beginning of a new era of development. Following the commissioning of the Refinery, an investment of Rs. 1,00,000 crore will come into the State. Paradip Refinery is the Vikas Deep for Odisha. The Refinery will contribute to the development of the State and bring new hope for the youth. The people of Odisha know about the importance of the Refinery. There will be every support available from the Govt. of India to sustain this march of development."
Honorable PM especially complimented the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas for initiating a number of new initiatives for the benefit of the citizens. He also emphasised the need for more production of LPG in order to reach the clean fuel to millions of Indian households--taking care of women who still work in the kitchen under the smoke of firewood. We want to reach out to every household with LPG, with the INDMAX at Paradip Refinery, we will be closer to this goal, he said."
Shri Naveen Patnaik, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Odisha, said that Paradip Refinery is the pride of Odisha. It is a mark of Odisha's development. He also thanked the Hon'ble PM for his support and cooperation for the refinery in Paradip.
Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, MoS (I/C) for Petroleum & Natural Gas, in his welcome address, said, "This refinery was a dream of many and today the dream is coming true. I am honoured by the presence of the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi ji today at IndianOil Paradip refinery. I am also honoured by the presence of our guests from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Shri Pradhan also mentioned that we all dream of a developed Odisha. A new milestone has been reached today on this pious land of Odisha. Through this Paradip Refinery, we would try to enrich the Eastern Province of India, create job opportunities and bring about a transformation in the State of Odisha, he added.
Shri Jual Oram, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, thanked all the stakeholders for being part of the occasion that heralded a new wave of development for the State of Odisha and the nation as well.
The other top-level dignitaries present on the occasion were the Governor of Odisha, Dr. S C Jamir. Odisha State Ministers who graced the occasion were Minister (Industries, School & Mass Education), Shri Debi Prasad Mishra, and Minister (Co-Op & Excise), Dr. Damodar Rout. Members of Parliament Dr. Kulamani Samal (Lok Sabha) and Shri Ranjib Biswal (Rajya Sabha), were also present. Special foreign guests were EH Dr. Towfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, BB, Advisor to PM of Bangladesh (Energy, Power & Mineral Resources) and H.E. Dr. Anoma Gamago, Dy. Minister of Petroleum Resources Development, Srilanka.
Shri K D Tripathi, Secretary, (Petroleum), Shri B Ashok, Chairman, IndianOil, and Shri Sanjiv Singh, Director (Refineries), IndianOil, were present.
Hon'be PM takes a tour of main units of the Refinery
On his arrival, Hon’ble Prime Minister was taken to the Main Control Room, which is the heart of a refinery. Shri Sanjiv Singh, Director ( Refineries), IndianOil, gave a briefing on the operation of the control room that it is the biggest Control Room among IndianOil refineries and it can control each and every refinery operation along with the facility of startup and shutdown.
He also visited the INDMAX unit, an in-house technology adopted in the refinery, the finest representation of ‘Make in India’ campaign of the Govt. of India. The continuous endeavour of the IndianOil leadership is to identify the challenges and opportunities for strengthening the Indian economy through development of pioneering technologies for import substitution, dynamically supporting local talent and trade, skill development, creation of job opportunities, spurring manufacturing enterprises, and facilitating inclusive growth to realise the vision of ‘Make in India’ in its true spirit.
Unveils the ‘Make in India’ Sculpture of INDMAX
At Paradip Refinery, Hon’ble Prime Minister unveiled the glorious and illustrative symbol of ‘Make in India’- a sculpture of the in-house technical innovation of IndianOil’s R&D- the INDMAX technology. The sculpture is a national salute to Ho’ble Prime Minister’s initiatives to take India to the next level of growth by attracting big investments in the country, and giving a boost to Indian skill and trade for economic development. The INDMAX technology implementation will double LPG production. This will support the mission of Govt. of India for providing domestic LPG gas to every household in next three years. At present, approximately 50% of LPG is imported in the country.
‘Give Back’ Beneficiaries given domestic LPG connections
Hon’ble Prime Minister presented the domestic LPG connections to house-makers of three BPL families (Smt. Khulana; Smt. Sanjukta Behera; Smt. Bharati Behera) customers of the three oil marketing companies namely IndianOil, BPCL and HPCL, under the government’s ‘Give Back’ Scheme.
Simultaneously, the PSU oil companies also put up a separate camp for BPL beneficiaries and distributed LPG connection documents to about 75 households in Paradip. All across the State, the OMCs LPG distributors also released LPG connection to about 2000 ‘Give Back’ beneficiaries to mark this august occasion of Paradip Refinery commissioning. It is worth mentioning that oil companies today have about 5 lakh ‘Give Back’ beneficiaries in Odisha, and subsidy has been given up by 85000 consumers under the 'Give it Up' campaign. OMCs have embarked upon a vigorous drive to provide LPG in rural districts of Odisha in order to increase the availability of LPG at par with the national level of 60 per cent.
‘Give Back’ is a natural corollary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas 'Give it Up' campaign that encourages well-to-do households to voluntarily give up the subsidy on domestic LPG cylinder so that the benefit could be passed on the BPL families who remain reliant on polluting cooking fuels such as wood, dung, crop residues and coal. So far more than 68 lakh Indian households have voluntarily surrendered their LPG subsidy. Against this the oil companies have already enrolled 57 lakh ‘Give Back’ beneficiaries across India.
Hands over hi-tech ambulances to Govt. of Odisha
Hon’ble Prime Minister presented the symbolic keys for the five hi-tech ambulances to the Govt. of Odisha, contributed by IndianOil Paradip Refinery, under its Corporate Social Responsibility programme. This is one of the commitments of IndianOil for the Govt. of Odisha, to provide access to life-saving facilities not only for the city population but also for the people who are residing in the far flung and remote areas of the State.
Presents equipment for specially-abled persons
Hon’ble PM presented aids and appliances to three specially-abled persons, under the CSR initiative of Engineers India Ltd., supporting Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), for providing assistive aids & appliances to poor & needy persons with disabilities. This shall bring the beneficiaries into the normal stream of life by enabling them to lead a productive life with the help of aids & appliances. EIL is supporting ALIMCO for organising camps for distribution of such aids at Bhubaneswar, Bolangir, Paradip Districts of Odisha and Dibrugarh District of Assam.
