District Nodal Officers Meet held at Kolkata

Hon'ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Petroleum & Natural Gas delivering the keynote address during the meet.

Hon'ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Petroleum & Natural Gas held a meeting with all District Nodal Officers (DNOs) of Eastern States and North Eastern States at Kolkata on 30.07.2016. Nearly 250 DNOs, Senior Officials of Ministry and Oil Marketing Companies including Mr. B Ashok, Chairman IndianOil; Mr. B S Canth, Director (Marketing), IndianOil amongst other senior officials were present during the meet.

The DNO meet was organised to provide an opportunity for experience sharing by DNOs in implementing Hon'ble Prime Minister's Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna under which LPG connections are given to women of BPL households. The PMUY scheme was launched on 1st may at Balia on July 30, 2016, 90th day after launch of the scheme, a total of 23 Lakh connections have been issued so far under PMUY.

A large number of DNOs shared their experiences in implementing the scheme which included massive communication strategy to educate prospective beneficiaries, enrolment of beneficiaries, strengthening of infrastructure and coordination with elected representatives & local administration.

DNOs also highlighted the steps taken by them to educate beneficiaries on safety measures and insurance cover available. Few DNOs highlighted the difficulties faced in the field.

Hon'ble MoS appreciated the enormous dynamism, enthusiasm & commitment shown by each DNO being foot soldier of Hon'ble PM's vision to bring qualitative change in the lives of millions of women. He emphasised that DNOs to be more vigilant on involvement of any middle man and directed to reach out to every beneficiary. He further stressed on the need of ensuring quality services to all LPG consumers.

Hon'ble minister directed all DNOs to organise distribution melas from 15th of August involving freedom fighters to make 70th Independence Day.
