The chairman of Standing Conference on Public Enterprises (Scope), Sarthak Behuria on Wednesday asked the government to speed up the process of listing of public sector enterprises. "I would urge the government to speed up (the process of) listing of PSUs," Mr Behuria said on the eve of the presentation of Scope meritorious award for corporate governance. The Centre had the proposal to list four of the profit making PSUs - National Aluminium Company (Nalco), National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) and Rural Electrification Corporation but the process was delayed as the companies did not have the desired number of independent directors on board. Mr Behuria also asked the government to make it mandatory for all the directors of PSUs to get the corporate governance certificate from Scope.
