Art Exhibition in the presence of senior IndianOil officials.

The 21st edition of IndianOil's Art Exhibition unveils the works of forty young artists along with an equal number of nationally and internationally acclaimed artists in the “Stories on Canvas” art show organized with assistance from invited artists Ms. Pratibha Wagh and Bapusaheb Zanze. All the 40 young talents have created new work for the exhibition.

The 21st edition of the IndianOil Art Exhibition was formally inaugurated today by internationally acclaimed contemporary art master Mr. Laxman Shreshtha at the Coomarswamy Hall, Chhtrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya.

In 1987, IndianOil initiated its Art Exhibition to showcase and provide a platform for display of work of arts by budding as well as established artists. Since then, it has showcased the works of artists, many of whom have gone on to exhibit nationally and internationally. The exhibition found a welcome home at IndianOil's head office premise in Bandra, Mumbai till 2010. In 2013, it was shifted to larger galleries with an objective to widen its scope by including more budding artists.

This year's mega show includes an eclectic mix of works of close to 100 artists each telling a unique story of life's experience on the canvas of his imagination. The work on display includes abstract, semi-abstract paintings and sculptors, in diverse media such as oil on canvas, acrylic on canvas, pen & ink, mixed media, ceramics, terracotta, sandstone, etc.

IndianOil's Executive Director (CC & Branding) Mr. Subodh Dakwale said, “IndianOil Art Exhibition devoted to promoting artists in the early stages of their careers has been a continuous feature of the IndianOil's community connect program since it opened three decades ago. We are delighted that it continues to be such an important exhibition for artists, giving them a platform to share their voices, their art, and to introduce new ideas to the ever-increasing audience in the world of art”.

Opening to the public today, the 21st IndianOil Art Show 2016 explores ideas of transmission, highlighting the ways that art can physically connect with the viewer and how an artwork's meaning can be generated by this encounter. The exhibition draws on recent theories about semi-abstract cognition – pertaining to a style of painting or sculpture in which the subject remains recognizable although the forms are highly stylized in a manner derived from abstract art.

Visitors to IndianOil Art Exhibition 2016 will be encouraged to experience the works through their senses. Upon entering the gallery viewers will be invited to the live painting corner where five senior art students from Sir JJ School of Arts will display the formation of art work from a dot to full art work.

Ms. Pratibha Wagh and Mr. Babusaheb Zanze who have assisted IndianOil in putting up the show said “It is an honour to reveal the depth of curiosity and creative intelligence in younger generation of artists through presenting these works in the 21st IndianOil Art Exhibition 2016. The presence of work by internationally acclaimed master Mr. Laxman Shreshtha in this exhibition is a great motivator for the budding talent.'

This year's exhibition promises to be a feast for the eyes reflecting the exuberance, vitality and happy amalgam of the traditional and modern influences. Internationally acclaimed abstract painter Laxman Srestha tops the list of ten special invitees which includes such masters as Dinkar Thopte, Murli Lahoti, Suhas Bahulkar, Vasudev Kamath, Pramodbabu Ramteke, Shrikant Jadhav, Usha Phenani, Anand Sonar, and Neelkanti Patekar.

Among the established artists on display will be national award winner Ganpat Bhadke, Surendra Jagtap, Dilip Bade, Arvind Hate, Manoj Sakale and Pramod Arya of Chandigarh. The works of such noted sculptors as Bapusaheb Zanje, Kishor Thakur, Rajesh Kulkarni, Shekhar Dahiwal, Udaipur's Nema Ram and Chennai's K Ramkumar will give art lovers a wide variety of styles to admire.

A spirit of vivacity and dynamism is provided by the ample opportunity given to no less than 40 young and budding artists to showcase their talent. Among them will be a group of the most promising in-house artists who exemplify IndianOil's tradition of keeping the creative spirit alive.

The exhibition has also been extended to the employees of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, who despite their tough professional schedules have passionately developed an enviable body of work.

During the six day exhibition for the first time a live painting corner has been created at the venue where five senior students of JJ School of Arts will paint an artwork of their choice.

As the Energy of India, for brand IndianOil, pioneering the spirit of creativity is important to IndianOil's heritage, and as an Indian Energy major, the Corporation feels it is important to care to the community and foster relationships for a lifetime.
