IndianOil bags the ‘Most Admired Retailer of the Year’ award
Mumbai   10-Sep-2007
IndianOil, the flagship corporate of the Indian Nation and India’s highest-ranking commercial enterprise in the Global Fortune 500 listing has been presented the ‘Most Admired Retailer of the Year’ Award in the category of Rural Retailing, by the India Retail Forum (IRF), which is one of most substantive intellectual and information exchange platforms for retail business in the Indian sub-continent. Mr. A.M.K.Sinha, Executive Director (Retail Sales), received the award on behalf of IndianOil, at a glittering awards ceremony organized at the culminating event of IRF’07 from noted film personality, Mr. Mahesh Bhatt. IndianOil was able to get past strong and popular nominees like ITC e-Choupal, Tata, Godrej Aadhar, DCM Kisan Hariyali and a host of other firmly entrenched names in the business of Rural Retailing, to bag the coveted award in 2007. The awards selection follows global standards of performance assessment involving consumer and industry poll, consumer nominations, store visits and interviews of nominees by experts, process partners & the jury. This award is a felicitation of IndianOil’s new and novel business model of Kisan Seva Kendras (KSKs), which are primarily low cost, no-frills petrol stations, custom designed to cater to the needs of the rural segment. IndianOil has 1600 such KSKs spread across India’s heartland, that provide a host of facilities, apart from petrol & diesel. The KSKs are rural supermarts that stock quality seeds, fertilizers, farming equipment, besides a range of daily products. They also offer communication solutions and financial products and have gone a long way in creating avenues for rural employment. IndianOil plans to rollout another 1000 KSKs in the current fiscal. IRF Awards are extremely prestigious, participated by major retailers like Shopper’s Stop, Future Group, Airtel, Spencers, Tatas, ITC, Godrej etc, which vie for awards under different categories.
