IndianOil R&D bagged Jawaharlal Nehru Centenary Award

IndianOil R&D bagged an award for “Best innovation in Refineries” under Team category for the performance improvement of FCC Unit of Gujarat Refinery through innovative hardware design. Shri. Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister MoP&NG presented the award to the team led by Dr. SSV Ramakumar, Dir(R&D) at the 21st RTM held at Vishakhapatnam on April 20,2017. Mr. KD Tripathi, Secretary MoP&NG, Mr. Sandeep Poundrik, Joint Secretary (Refinery), MoP&NG, Mr. M.K Surana, Chairman and MD, HPCL and Mr. Brijesh Kumar, ED, CHT were also present on the occasion. The other members of the team are Mr. Manoj K Yadav, DMR, Mr. G Saidulu, SRM, Mr. D Bhattacharya, GM (RT) and Mr. BP Das former ED (I/c) (R&D).The award carries a trophy, citation and a cash prize of 2 lacs.

Jawaharlal Nehru Centenary Awards for energy performance of refineries were institutional by Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoP&NG) in 1988 – 89. The Centre for High Technology,(CHT) functioning under the aegis of MoP&NG, monitors and evaluates the annual performance of refineries for finalizing the Awards by the Award Selection Committee. The awardees are selected based on minimum Specific Energy Consumption (MBN) during the year. For the purpose of evaluation of energy performance, refineries are divided into different groups based on their composite energy factors (NRGF).

In the 21st Refining Technology Meet, an exhibition stall was also put up by IndianOil R&D jointly with Engineers India Limited. The stall showcased the hallmark technologies commissioned jointly with EIL viz indept - technology for deep desulfurisation of diesel and gasoline, indediesel - hydrotreating technology, Zeosom -light naphtha isomeristion technology, indeHex - food grade hexane technology etc.
