Fund Allocation to The IndianOil Foundation enhanced for developing tourist infrastructure facilities at heritage monuments

IndianOil has created a non-profit trust, The IndianOil Foundation (IOF), in collaboration with the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and the National Culture Fund (NCF) of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India to protect, preserve and promote India's heritage monuments.

The Board of Trustees of The IndianOil Foundation met for the 15th Trust Board Meeting today at the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MOP&NG), New Delhi. The meeting was chaired by Secretary, MoP&NG; Addl. Secretary, MoP&NG; Jt. Director General, ASI; Member Secretary, NCF, Govt. of India; Chairman and Director (HR) of IndianOil and CEO of the Foundation.

During the meeting, the following decisions were taken on the ongoing projects of the Foundation:

a) Developing tourist / public infrastructure at Konark Sun Temple Complex, Odisha: The Board approved enhanced allocation for the project of adding tourist infrastructure facilities around Konark Sun Temple in Odisha to Rs. 45.00 crore from Rs 35.61 crore. The anticipated completion of the project is by December 2017.

b) Developing tourist / public infrastructure at Khajuraho Group of Temples: The IOF Board approved enhanced allocation for the project to Rs. 32.00 crore from Rs 28.00 crore. The anticipated completion of the project is by December 2018.

A few new projects have been taken by IOF. They are:

c) Harappan Site of Dholavira, at Great Rann of Kachh, in Gujarat: The site shall be adopted by IOF for development of tourist infrastructure facilities at an estimated cost of Rs. 10.0 crore.

d) Chittorgarh Fort, Rajasthan: IOF would adopt this world heritage site to develop tourist infrastructure facilities at an estimated cost of Rs. 9.5 crore.

To expand the area of operation of The IndianOil Foundation, the Board of Trustees decided to add non-ASI monuments in its scope of work.
