IndianOil’s first domestic gas & condensate field starts production
New Delhi   29-Aug-2017

Dirok Gas & Condensate Field, Assam

‘IndianOil commenced production of gas and condensate from Dirok field in its Pre-NELP block AAP-ON-94/1 on 26th August 2017, marking advent of its first domestic exploration asset maturing from exploration stage to a producing asset'.

IndianOil holds 29.03% participating interest in the block, located near Digboi in Assam, along with Hindustan Oil Exploration Company (HOEC 26.88%, Operator) and Oil India Limited (OIL 44.08%, Licensee).

The initial production from the field, termed Phase-I, is estimated at ~10 MMSCFD of Gas and 120-140 bopd of Condensate from three wells namely Dirok-1, 2 & 4. The present production of Gas & Condensate is being flowed through a 4”, 20 km pipeline from the Gas Gathering Station (GGS), located at Dirok-4 well site, to Oil India Limited's Processing facility at Kusijan (4 km from Digboi).

For Phase-I, Dirok Gas is being sold to OIL at Government regulated price, revised every six months, which currently is US$2.48/MMBTU while IOC is the buyer of the Condensate at a price equivalent to that of bench marked crude oil.

After commissioning of a Modular Gas Processing Plant (MGPP) at Borpowai, ~10km south of Digboi, and completion of 12”pipeline from GGS to MGPP, the consortium would be ready to ramp up the production from the Dirok field to its full potential of 35 MMSCFD gas and 800 bopd condensate production. This would be the Phase-II stage of production from Dirok field.

Consortium has initiated an extensive market survey & analysis to understand the affordability, demand & supply, infrastructure availability etc to establish Arms Length Pricing for the Dirok Gas under Phase-II. Condensate will, however, be sold to IndianOil and delivered to its Digboi Refinery.

With addition of Dirok production, IOC now holds a portfolio of six producing assets (five overseas and one domestic) out of a total 17 active E&P assets.
