The Annual P&U and Instrumentation Workshop 2017 of Refineries Division inaugurated at Paradip Refinery

In a first of its kind, the annual P&U and Instrumentation Workshop of Refineries Division for the year 2017 is being conducted by M&I Department, RHQ in co-ordination with IndianOil’s state of the art Paradip Refinery at Paradip, Odisha. The two day workshop was inaugurated by Mr. GS Singh, ED (PDR) on December 1, 2017 in the presence of Mr. SL Maurya, ED(M&I), Mr. GD Parashar, CGM(M&I), Mr. NR Patnaik, CGM(PJ-I/C), Mr. SM Ukey, CGM(T), Mr. Rajiv Kacker, CGM(T) and other senior dignitaries from Paradip Refinery and delegates from other IndianOil and CPCL Refineries.

During his inaugural speech, Mr. Singh highlighted that the importance of Power & Utilities as well as Instrumentation systems is paramount for ensuring stable & sustained operation of continuous process industry like Refineries and hence in view of highly competitive business environment, it is imperative to ensure reliability of these systems for sustained business outcomes. Mr. Singh appreciated M&I, RHQ role in the process of information sharing and overall reliability improvement of operations across the Refineries by way of such workshops. Also in his keynote address, Mr. Maurya, ED(M&I) highlighted that the Workshop is an excellent platform for experience sharing, brain storming & information exchange to further the cause of overall Reliability improvement across Refineries and requested all delegates to make full use of the opportunity given to them. Mr. Parashar, in his address requested delegates to share lessons learnt and best practices of different locations from the reliability improvement perspective and to ensure that same can be ultimately implemented across in the context of quick implementation during upcoming BS-VI Project across all Refineries for overall reliability improvement and sustained operations. While the welcome address was delivered by Mr. SM Ukey, CGM(T), a brief presentation on Paradip Refinery Project journey and Refinery overview to the delegates was made by Mr. Rajiv Kacker CGM(T).

This is for the first time that M&I has taken initiative to conduct joint P&U and Instrumentation Workshop outside RHQ and in association with any of the Refinery. The 2-day workshop is being attended by more than 25 senior level P&U and Instrument delegates from all IndianOil and CPCL Refineries.
