Curtains set to rise on ISFL-2018: The Most Popular Indian Scientific Forum For Fuels and Lubricants

Under the aegis of Indian Society for Fuels and Lubricants, IndianOil R&D is organizing the 11th edition of International Symposium on Fuels and Lubricants (ISFL) at Delhi/NCR during April 15-17, 2018. Mr Sanjiv Singh, Chairman, IndianOil will inaugurate the symposium on April 15, 2018. Dr SSV Ramakumar, Director (R&D), IndianOil, will deliver the theme address. The key note address will be delivered by Mr Tom Curtis, Corporate Vice President, Lubrizol Additives.

Based on the theme “Next Generation Fuels & Lubricants for Future Emission Compliance”, the 11th edition of ISFL, the symposium will focus on the needs and solutions for Fuels and Lubricants to be required in BS-VI scenario. Special emphasis will be given to energy efficient lubricants required for meeting CAFE norms and environmental issues. In addition to the above, novel additives, novel refinery processes / catalysts for producing cleaner fuels meeting BS-VI specifications, alternative fuels etc will also be discussed.

To address the special needs of the ‘Start Up India’ initiative launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister, a new session on the subject has been introduced in this ISFL 2018. A separate new session on ‘Energy Conservation’ has also been planned with PCRA to give right emphasis to the topic.

The symposium will have eminent speakers from India and abroad addressing a gathering of 350 scientists and technologists from petroleum industry, auto manufacturers, and environmentalists etc representing ten countries. Technical sessions are planned on the utilization of gaseous fuels like natural gas (CNG & LNG), hydrogen and bio-fuels etc.

More than 125 authors from India and abroad have submitted their recent research findings for presentations in oral/poster in the symposium. Three plenary talks and subsequent technical sessions are planned which will be held concurrently in three halls. A salient feature of the symposium is two panel discussions by renowned experts with delegates. Several distinguished experts, equipment manufacturers and officials of regulatory agencies have agreed to be on the panel. A trade exhibition has also been arranged where exhibitors would showcase latest advancements in diverse areas such as fuels, lubricants and refining.

Conceived and launched in 1997 by IndianOil’s R&D Centre to commemorate its Silver Jubilee, the ISFL series of symposia have evolved to become the biggest biennial international event to showcase advancements in fuels and lubricants. It has become a major platform for technocrats of the downstream hydrocarbon and allied industries, scientists, engineers, researchers, academicians and policy-makers to exchange ideas and forge partnerships.
