Taiwanese delegation in India to discuss investment in petrochemical cracker and downstream units

A Taiwanese delegation comprising Government officials and senior level officers of CPC Corporation, Taiwan, met Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, here today for discussions on CPC’s proposed investment in a petrochemicals cracker plant in India.

Led by Mr. Shun-Chin Lee, President of CPC Corporation, Taiwan, the delegation had detailed discussions with the Hon’ble Minister and senior officials of the Ministry and the oil industry on the proposed investment and identified the East Coast of India, and Odisha in particular, for the location of the cracker & downstream units.

During the discussions, Indian Oil Corporation’s 15-million metric tonnes per annum Paradip Refinery has emerged as a suitable location for investment in a greenfield cracker & downstream units at an estimated investment of USD 6.6 Billion.

In continuation of today’s meeting, the delegation will be going to Odisha for a site visit to Paradip Refinery and Paradip Port and for discussions with IndianOil and State Government officials.

The proposed cracker, based on different streams of feedstock, will have several downstream units for production of a diverse spectrum of petrochemical intermediates and end-products.
