Fire in AVU-1 unit of Panipat Refinery

On Saturday, 16th March, 2019, at about 18:30 Hrs, a fire broke out in the AVU-1 unit of Panipat Refinery during start-up of the unit. The fire & rescue team immediately rushed to the site and the fire was brought under control by 20:20 hrs. A high level committee has been constituted to ascertain the cause of the accident.

Deepak (24 years) & Mohan Lal (22 years), working under contractor M/s Jai Jyoti Electricals were injured in the mishap. Shri Deepak were immediately rushed for first aid to Panipat Refinery Hospital and subsequently referred to city hospital for further treatment.

Mr. M S Khairkar (43 years), working with Fire & Safety of IOC was injured during the fire fighting operations was rushed to Refinery Hospital and referred to a city Hospital for further treatment.

Currently, all major plant operations of the refinery are functioning normally, while the refinery shutdown activities are being carried out as per schedule.

MS Khairkar, IndianOil employee, admitted to a local hospital is stable. Deepak, an electrical contractor M/s Jai Jyoti Electricals has been shifted to M/s. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Delhi for further treatment and is stable.

All help is being extended to the family of Late Mohan Lal and the contractor has been advised to give all required support to the bereaved family.
