National CSR Award For IndianOil

IndianOil won the National CSR Aaward instituted by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, under Women and Child Development category for its Assam Oil School of Nursing project at Digboi. The project covers 9 cities and 47 districts of Assam with enrollment of 60 students per year for two courses in nursing & midwifery. IndianOil has spent an amount of RS. 490.60 crore on various CSR initiatives during 2018-19.

Hon'ble Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, GOI, Smt Nirmala Seethraman, gave away the award at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, today, to Mr Sanjiv Singh, Chairman, IndianOil and Mr Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra, Director (HR), IndianOil. The awards were given away in the presence of Shri Anurag Thakur, Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Shri Injeti Srinivas, Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, and Shri Sameer Sharma, DG and CEO of Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs.

BACKGROUND:

IndianOil has been actively engaged in a gamut of social welfare/upliftment activities across the nation in addition to reaching essential fuels to the nook and corner of the Country. IndianOil's key Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) thrust areas include 'Safe drinking water and protection of water resources', 'Healthcare and sanitation', 'Education and employment-enhancing vocational skills', 'Empowerment of women and socially/economically backward groups', etc. IndianOil has a long standing CSR legacy, which started much before the CSR legislation (Companies Act, 2013) came into force in 2014-15. The CSR projects of IndianOil are mostly undertaken for improving the quality of life of communities, which invariably include marginalized or under privileged sections of the society. With pan-India presence, depending on requirement, IndianOil undertakes CSR activities in any part of the country, from Leh in J&K in the North, to the North Eastern States, to the backward districts/ naxal affected areas of Andhra Pradesh/ Odisha/ Jharkhand/ Chhattisgarh, to Gujarat in the west and Tamil Nadu/Kerala in the south. For the year 2018-19, entire budget allocation of Rs.490.60 crore was spent on CSR activities, thereby achieving 100% budget utilization.
