IndianOil powers 20th National Para Athletic Championship in Bhubaneswar

The 20th National Para Athletics Championship 2022 is a story of triumph. It's an opportunity for us to see beyond physical disabilities and truly "superabled" individuals. IndianOil is immensely proud to partner with these real champions, as they defy the odds at Bhubaneshwar from 28th to 31st March 2022. This sporting extravaganza being organized by the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) and powered by IndianOil, truly displays the enduring human spirit. More than 1500 elite para-athletes across the country will compete in various athletic competitions like Racing, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Discuss/Javelin/Club Throw etc.

The curtain raiser of this prestigious event was held today with the unveiling of the event logo by Shri Achyutanand Samanta, Hon'ble MP (Lok Sabha), Co-founder and Chairman of KIIT & KISS Foundation in the presence of Ms Deepa Malik Padmashree, Khel Ratna Awardee and President of PCI and other senior officials of IndianOil and PCI.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Deepa Malik encouraged the participants to give their 100 per cent to bring more laurels for their respective states. I am confident that you will be setting rewriting the benchmarks of athletic excellence in the upcoming event, she added.

Mr Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra, Director (HR), IndianOil, said, "Sports have been a part of our social and moral fabric since time immemorial. And in today's world, it is apt to say that the sporting quotient is a strong determinant of the agility of nations, organizations and communities. And more importantly, our Para athletes stands remarkably tall as the tenacious power of the human spirit that is capable of triumphing over every odd."

With more than 150 active players on its roll, IndianOil continues to support more sportspersons, with a mission to bring in sportspersons in games like shooting, Archery, Athletics, etc., and extend support to the Olympic sports line with the vision of the Hon'ble Prime Minister”.

IndianOil in its quest towards promoting the sporting culture in the country has been undertaking a host of initiatives, which include providing Scholarship Stipend, bearing Tournament Expenses, sponsoring major sports events, incurring expenditure towards sports development projects under CSR, contribution towards PSPB for various sports activities and development programs such as - assisting top athletes under PSPB towards foreign exposure/tournaments, organizing sports events/tournaments, providing support to nurture budding talent at in Sports academies such as Mary Kom Boxing academy, PT Usha Athletics academy, PSPB TT Academy at Ajmer, TT Girls academy at Sonepat.
